Convert Celsius to Kelvin
Unit definitions
Celsius
Celsius is defined by the temperatures at which water freezes ($0 \ \text{°C}$) and boils ($100 \ \text{°C}$) at standard atmospheric pressure. Temperature in Celsius is equal to $\text{K} - 273.15$.
Kelvin
Kelvin is the standard unit of thermodynamic temperature in the International System of Units (SI). Kelvin generally has no negative values as it starts at absolute zero, which is the lowest temperature theoretically possible.
How to convert Celsius to Kelvin
$$\text{Temperature}_{\text{K}} = \text{Temperature}_{\text{°C}} + 273.15$$
Examples
Example 1
Convert $40.0\ \text{°C}$ to $\text{K}$.
$$\text{Temperature}_{\text{K}} = 40.0 + 273.15$$
$$\text{Temperature}_{\text{K}} = 313.15$$
$$\therefore \ 40.0\ \text{°C} = 313.15 \ \text{K}$$
Example 2
Convert $70.0\ \text{°C}$ to $\text{K}$.
$$\text{Temperature}_{\text{K}} = 70.0 + 273.15$$
$$\text{Temperature}_{\text{K}} = 343.15$$
$$\therefore \ 70.0\ \text{°C} = 343.15 \ \text{K}$$
Example 3
Convert $120.0\ \text{°C}$ to $\text{K}$.
$$\text{Temperature}_{\text{K}} = 120.0 + 273.15$$
$$\text{Temperature}_{\text{K}} = 393.15$$
$$\therefore \ 120.0\ \text{°C} = 393.15 \ \text{K}$$
Example 4
Convert $140.0\ \text{°C}$ to $\text{K}$.
$$\text{Temperature}_{\text{K}} = 140.0 + 273.15$$
$$\text{Temperature}_{\text{K}} = 413.15$$
$$\therefore \ 140.0\ \text{°C} = 413.15 \ \text{K}$$
Example 5
Convert $200.0\ \text{°C}$ to $\text{K}$.
$$\text{Temperature}_{\text{K}} = 200.0 + 273.15$$
$$\text{Temperature}_{\text{K}} = 473.15$$
$$\therefore \ 200.0\ \text{°C} = 473.15 \ \text{K}$$
