Convert Meter per square second to G-force

Unit definitions

Meter per square second

Meter per square second is the unit of acceleration in the International System of Units (SI). It is a derived unit (base units: meter and second).

G-force

G-force is a measure of acceleration expressed as multiples of standard gravity. $1\ \text{g}$ equals $9.806\,65\ \text{ms}^{-2}$, and $2\ \text{g}$ equals $2 \times 9.806\,65\ \text{ms}^{-2}$. G-force is often used to describe the sensation of acceleration.

How to convert Meter per square second to G-force

$$\text{Acceleration}_{\text{g}} = \frac{\text{Acceleration}_{\text{ms⁻²}}}{9.80665}$$

Examples

Example 1

Convert $25.0\ \text{ms⁻²}$ to $\text{g}$.

$$\text{Acceleration}_{\text{g}} = \frac{25.0}{9.80665}$$

$$\text{Acceleration}_{\text{g}} = 2.549291$$

$$\therefore \ 25.0\ \text{ms⁻²} = 2.549291 \ \text{g}$$

Example 2

Convert $80.0\ \text{ms⁻²}$ to $\text{g}$.

$$\text{Acceleration}_{\text{g}} = \frac{80.0}{9.80665}$$

$$\text{Acceleration}_{\text{g}} = 8.15773$$

$$\therefore \ 80.0\ \text{ms⁻²} = 8.15773 \ \text{g}$$

Example 3

Convert $110.0\ \text{ms⁻²}$ to $\text{g}$.

$$\text{Acceleration}_{\text{g}} = \frac{110.0}{9.80665}$$

$$\text{Acceleration}_{\text{g}} = 11.216878$$

$$\therefore \ 110.0\ \text{ms⁻²} = 11.216878 \ \text{g}$$

Example 4

Convert $150.0\ \text{ms⁻²}$ to $\text{g}$.

$$\text{Acceleration}_{\text{g}} = \frac{150.0}{9.80665}$$

$$\text{Acceleration}_{\text{g}} = 15.295743$$

$$\therefore \ 150.0\ \text{ms⁻²} = 15.295743 \ \text{g}$$

Example 5

Convert $180.0\ \text{ms⁻²}$ to $\text{g}$.

$$\text{Acceleration}_{\text{g}} = \frac{180.0}{9.80665}$$

$$\text{Acceleration}_{\text{g}} = 18.354892$$

$$\therefore \ 180.0\ \text{ms⁻²} = 18.354892 \ \text{g}$$
