Meter per square second

Meter per square second is the unit of acceleration in the International System of Units (SI). It is a derived unit (base units: meter and second).

$\frac{1}{10^{2}}$ of a meters per second squared is a hectometer per second squared.

$$\therefore \ 65.0\ \text{ms⁻²} = 0.65 \ \text{hm/s²}$$

Example 3

Convert $120.0\ \text{ms⁻²}$ to $\text{hm/s²}$.

$$\text{Acceleration}_{\text{hm/s²}} = \frac{120.0}{{10}^{2}}$$

$$\text{Acceleration}_{\text{hm/s²}} = 1.2$$

$$\therefore \ 120.0\ \text{ms⁻²} = 1.2 \ \text{hm/s²}$$

Example 4

Convert $135.0\ \text{ms⁻²}$ to $\text{hm/s²}$.

$$\text{Acceleration}_{\text{hm/s²}} = \frac{135.0}{{10}^{2}}$$

$$\text{Acceleration}_{\text{hm/s²}} = 1.35$$

$$\therefore \ 135.0\ \text{ms⁻²} = 1.35 \ \text{hm/s²}$$

Example 5

Convert $200.0\ \text{ms⁻²}$ to $\text{hm/s²}$.

$$\text{Acceleration}_{\text{hm/s²}} = \frac{200.0}{{10}^{2}}$$

$$\text{Acceleration}_{\text{hm/s²}} = 2$$

$$\therefore \ 200.0\ \text{ms⁻²} = 2 \ \text{hm/s²}$$
