Convert Gram-force to Newton

Unit definitions

Gram-force

Gram-force is the force exerted by a mass of one gram in standard gravity ($gₙ$) ($1\ \text{kgf} = 9.806\,65\ \text{N}$).

Newton

The newton is the SI unit of force. It is the force required to accelerate a mass of one kilogram at a rate of one meter per second squared.

How to convert Gram-force to Newton

$$\text{Force}_{\text{N}} = \text{Force}_{\text{gf}} \cdot 0.00980665$$

Examples

Example 1

Convert $45.0\ \text{gf}$ to $\text{N}$.

$$\text{Force}_{\text{N}} = 45.0 \cdot 0.00980665$$

$$\text{Force}_{\text{N}} = 0.441299$$

$$\therefore \ 45.0\ \text{gf} = 0.441299 \ \text{N}$$

Example 2

Convert $75.0\ \text{gf}$ to $\text{N}$.

$$\text{Force}_{\text{N}} = 75.0 \cdot 0.00980665$$

$$\text{Force}_{\text{N}} = 0.735499$$

$$\therefore \ 75.0\ \text{gf} = 0.735499 \ \text{N}$$

Example 3

Convert $105.0\ \text{gf}$ to $\text{N}$.

$$\text{Force}_{\text{N}} = 105.0 \cdot 0.00980665$$

$$\text{Force}_{\text{N}} = 1.029698$$

$$\therefore \ 105.0\ \text{gf} = 1.029698 \ \text{N}$$

Example 4

Convert $145.0\ \text{gf}$ to $\text{N}$.

$$\text{Force}_{\text{N}} = 145.0 \cdot 0.00980665$$

$$\text{Force}_{\text{N}} = 1.421964$$

$$\therefore \ 145.0\ \text{gf} = 1.421964 \ \text{N}$$

Example 5

Convert $200.0\ \text{gf}$ to $\text{N}$.

$$\text{Force}_{\text{N}} = 200.0 \cdot 0.00980665$$

$$\text{Force}_{\text{N}} = 1.96133$$

$$\therefore \ 200.0\ \text{gf} = 1.96133 \ \text{N}$$
