Convert Kilogram-force to Newton

Unit definitions

Kilogram-force

Kilogram-force is the force exerted by a mass of one kilogram in standard gravity ($gₙ$) ($1\ \text{kgf} = 9.806\,65\ \text{N}$).

Newton

The newton is the SI unit of force. It is the force required to accelerate a mass of one kilogram at a rate of one meter per second squared.

How to convert Kilogram-force to Newton

$$\text{Force}_{\text{N}} = \text{Force}_{\text{kgf}} \cdot 9.80665$$

Examples

Example 1

Convert $50.0\ \text{kgf}$ to $\text{N}$.

$$\text{Force}_{\text{N}} = 50.0 \cdot 9.80665$$

$$\text{Force}_{\text{N}} = 490.3325$$

$$\therefore \ 50.0\ \text{kgf} = 490.3325 \ \text{N}$$

Example 2

Convert $80.0\ \text{kgf}$ to $\text{N}$.

$$\text{Force}_{\text{N}} = 80.0 \cdot 9.80665$$

$$\text{Force}_{\text{N}} = 784.532$$

$$\therefore \ 80.0\ \text{kgf} = 784.532 \ \text{N}$$

Example 3

Convert $115.0\ \text{kgf}$ to $\text{N}$.

$$\text{Force}_{\text{N}} = 115.0 \cdot 9.80665$$

$$\text{Force}_{\text{N}} = 1127.76475$$

$$\therefore \ 115.0\ \text{kgf} = 1127.76475 \ \text{N}$$

Example 4

Convert $135.0\ \text{kgf}$ to $\text{N}$.

$$\text{Force}_{\text{N}} = 135.0 \cdot 9.80665$$

$$\text{Force}_{\text{N}} = 1323.89775$$

$$\therefore \ 135.0\ \text{kgf} = 1323.89775 \ \text{N}$$

Example 5

Convert $165.0\ \text{kgf}$ to $\text{N}$.

$$\text{Force}_{\text{N}} = 165.0 \cdot 9.80665$$

$$\text{Force}_{\text{N}} = 1618.09725$$

$$\therefore \ 165.0\ \text{kgf} = 1618.09725 \ \text{N}$$
