Convert Horsepower (Metric) to Watt
Unit definitions
Horsepower (Metric)
The metric horsepower is defined as the ability to raise one kilogram by a meter within a second ($1\ \text{PS} \approx 735.499\ \text{W}$). An engine's power is commonly measured using brake horsepower. The brake horsepower is the engine's true output power (in horsepower) before any losses in the gearbox and other components. The horsepower in bhp refers to either metric horsepower or imperial horsepower depending on the vehicle manufacturer.
Watt
The watt is the SI unit of power. It is defined as one joule per second ($1\ \text{W} = 1\ \text{J/s}$).
How to convert Horsepower (Metric) to Watt
$$\text{Power}_{\text{W}} = \text{Power}_{\text{PS}} \cdot 735.49875$$
Examples
Example 1
Convert $35.0\ \text{PS}$ to $\text{W}$.
$$\text{Power}_{\text{W}} = 35.0 \cdot 735.49875$$
$$\text{Power}_{\text{W}} = 25742.45625$$
$$\therefore \ 35.0\ \text{PS} = 25742.45625 \ \text{W}$$
Example 2
Convert $70.0\ \text{PS}$ to $\text{W}$.
$$\text{Power}_{\text{W}} = 70.0 \cdot 735.49875$$
$$\text{Power}_{\text{W}} = 51484.9125$$
$$\therefore \ 70.0\ \text{PS} = 51484.9125 \ \text{W}$$
Example 3
Convert $115.0\ \text{PS}$ to $\text{W}$.
$$\text{Power}_{\text{W}} = 115.0 \cdot 735.49875$$
$$\text{Power}_{\text{W}} = 84582.35625$$
$$\therefore \ 115.0\ \text{PS} = 84582.35625 \ \text{W}$$
Example 4
Convert $150.0\ \text{PS}$ to $\text{W}$.
$$\text{Power}_{\text{W}} = 150.0 \cdot 735.49875$$
$$\text{Power}_{\text{W}} = 110324.8125$$
$$\therefore \ 150.0\ \text{PS} = 110324.8125 \ \text{W}$$
Example 5
Convert $190.0\ \text{PS}$ to $\text{W}$.
$$\text{Power}_{\text{W}} = 190.0 \cdot 735.49875$$
$$\text{Power}_{\text{W}} = 139744.7625$$
$$\therefore \ 190.0\ \text{PS} = 139744.7625 \ \text{W}$$
