Convert Rankine to Kelvin
Unit definitions
Rankine
Rankine is a scale used in engineering systems in the United States. Temperature in $^{\circ}\text{R}$ is equal to $\text{K} \times \frac{9}{5}$.
Kelvin
Kelvin is the standard unit of thermodynamic temperature in the International System of Units (SI). Kelvin generally has no negative values as it starts at absolute zero, which is the lowest temperature theoretically possible.
How to convert Rankine to Kelvin
$$\text{Temperature}_{\text{K}} = \text{Temperature}_{\text{°R}} \cdot \frac{5}{9}$$
Examples
Example 1
Convert $30.0\ \text{°R}$ to $\text{K}$.
$$\text{Temperature}_{\text{K}} = 30.0 \cdot \frac{5}{9}$$
$$\text{Temperature}_{\text{K}} = 16.666667$$
$$\therefore \ 30.0\ \text{°R} = 16.666667 \ \text{K}$$
Example 2
Convert $65.0\ \text{°R}$ to $\text{K}$.
$$\text{Temperature}_{\text{K}} = 65.0 \cdot \frac{5}{9}$$
$$\text{Temperature}_{\text{K}} = 36.111111$$
$$\therefore \ 65.0\ \text{°R} = 36.111111 \ \text{K}$$
Example 3
Convert $100.0\ \text{°R}$ to $\text{K}$.
$$\text{Temperature}_{\text{K}} = 100.0 \cdot \frac{5}{9}$$
$$\text{Temperature}_{\text{K}} = 55.555556$$
$$\therefore \ 100.0\ \text{°R} = 55.555556 \ \text{K}$$
Example 4
Convert $145.0\ \text{°R}$ to $\text{K}$.
$$\text{Temperature}_{\text{K}} = 145.0 \cdot \frac{5}{9}$$
$$\text{Temperature}_{\text{K}} = 80.555556$$
$$\therefore \ 145.0\ \text{°R} = 80.555556 \ \text{K}$$
Example 5
Convert $175.0\ \text{°R}$ to $\text{K}$.
$$\text{Temperature}_{\text{K}} = 175.0 \cdot \frac{5}{9}$$
$$\text{Temperature}_{\text{K}} = 97.222222$$
$$\therefore \ 175.0\ \text{°R} = 97.222222 \ \text{K}$$
