Convert Byte to Kilobit

Unit definitions

Byte

$8$ bits equal one byte.

Kilobit

${10}^{3}$ bits equal one kilobit.

How to convert Byte to Kilobit

$$\text{Data and Storage}_{\text{Kb}} = \frac{\text{Data and Storage}_{\text{B}}}{125}$$

Examples

Example 1

Convert $20.0\ \text{B}$ to $\text{Kb}$.

$$\text{Data and Storage}_{\text{Kb}} = \frac{20.0}{125}$$

$$\text{Data and Storage}_{\text{Kb}} = 0.16$$

$$\therefore \ 20.0\ \text{B} = 0.16 \ \text{Kb}$$

Example 2

Convert $70.0\ \text{B}$ to $\text{Kb}$.

$$\text{Data and Storage}_{\text{Kb}} = \frac{70.0}{125}$$

$$\text{Data and Storage}_{\text{Kb}} = 0.56$$

$$\therefore \ 70.0\ \text{B} = 0.56 \ \text{Kb}$$

Example 3

Convert $100.0\ \text{B}$ to $\text{Kb}$.

$$\text{Data and Storage}_{\text{Kb}} = \frac{100.0}{125}$$

$$\text{Data and Storage}_{\text{Kb}} = 0.8$$

$$\therefore \ 100.0\ \text{B} = 0.8 \ \text{Kb}$$

Example 4

Convert $140.0\ \text{B}$ to $\text{Kb}$.

$$\text{Data and Storage}_{\text{Kb}} = \frac{140.0}{125}$$

$$\text{Data and Storage}_{\text{Kb}} = 1.12$$

$$\therefore \ 140.0\ \text{B} = 1.12 \ \text{Kb}$$

Example 5

Convert $180.0\ \text{B}$ to $\text{Kb}$.

$$\text{Data and Storage}_{\text{Kb}} = \frac{180.0}{125}$$

$$\text{Data and Storage}_{\text{Kb}} = 1.44$$

$$\therefore \ 180.0\ \text{B} = 1.44 \ \text{Kb}$$
