Convert Newton to Millinewton

Unit definitions

Newton

The newton is the SI unit of force. It is the force required to accelerate a mass of one kilogram at a rate of one meter per second squared.

Millinewton

${10}^{-3}$ newtons equal one millinewton.

How to convert Newton to Millinewton

$$\text{Force}_{\text{mN}} = \text{Force}_{\text{N}} \cdot {10}^{3}$$

Examples

Example 1

Convert $40.0\ \text{N}$ to $\text{mN}$.

$$\text{Force}_{\text{mN}} = 40.0 \cdot {10}^{3}$$

$$\text{Force}_{\text{mN}} = 40000$$

$$\therefore \ 40.0\ \text{N} = 40000 \ \text{mN}$$

Example 2

Convert $80.0\ \text{N}$ to $\text{mN}$.

$$\text{Force}_{\text{mN}} = 80.0 \cdot {10}^{3}$$

$$\text{Force}_{\text{mN}} = 80000$$

$$\therefore \ 80.0\ \text{N} = 80000 \ \text{mN}$$

Example 3

Convert $115.0\ \text{N}$ to $\text{mN}$.

$$\text{Force}_{\text{mN}} = 115.0 \cdot {10}^{3}$$

$$\text{Force}_{\text{mN}} = 115000$$

$$\therefore \ 115.0\ \text{N} = 115000 \ \text{mN}$$

Example 4

Convert $135.0\ \text{N}$ to $\text{mN}$.

$$\text{Force}_{\text{mN}} = 135.0 \cdot {10}^{3}$$

$$\text{Force}_{\text{mN}} = 135000$$

$$\therefore \ 135.0\ \text{N} = 135000 \ \text{mN}$$

Example 5

Convert $190.0\ \text{N}$ to $\text{mN}$.

$$\text{Force}_{\text{mN}} = 190.0 \cdot {10}^{3}$$

$$\text{Force}_{\text{mN}} = 190000$$

$$\therefore \ 190.0\ \text{N} = 190000 \ \text{mN}$$
