Carat

$\frac{2}{10}$ of a gram is a carat. It is used to measure the mass of gemstones.

How to convert Gram to Carat

$$\text{Mass}_{\text{ct}} = \text{Mass}_{\text{g}} \cdot 5$$

Examples

Example 1

Convert $45.0\ \text{g}$ to $\text{ct}$.

$$\text{Mass}_{\text{ct}} = 45.0 \cdot 5$$

$$\text{Mass}_{\text{ct}} = 225$$

$$\therefore \ 45.0\ \text{g} = 225 \ \text{ct}$$

Example 2

Convert $90.0\ \text{g}$ to $\text{ct}$.

$$\text{Mass}_{\text{ct}} = 90.0 \cdot 5$$

$$\text{Mass}_{\text{ct}} = 450$$

$$\therefore \ 90.0\ \text{g} = 450 \ \text{ct}$$

Example 3

Convert $115.0\ \text{g}$ to $\text{ct}$.

$$\text{Mass}_{\text{ct}} = 115.0 \cdot 5$$

$$\text{Mass}_{\text{ct}} = 575$$

$$\therefore \ 115.0\ \text{g} = 575 \ \text{ct}$$

Example 4

Convert $130.0\ \text{g}$ to $\text{ct}$.

$$\text{Mass}_{\text{ct}} = 130.0 \cdot 5$$

$$\text{Mass}_{\text{ct}} = 650$$

$$\therefore \ 130.0\ \text{g} = 650 \ \text{ct}$$

Example 5

Convert $195.0\ \text{g}$ to $\text{ct}$.

$$\text{Mass}_{\text{ct}} = 195.0 \cdot 5$$

$$\text{Mass}_{\text{ct}} = 975$$

$$\therefore \ 195.0\ \text{g} = 975 \ \text{ct}$$
